Rail Transport and Infrastructure

Evaluate rail expansion and modernization projects including line upgrades, new lines and terminals Conduct feasibility studies for rail projects including financial, economic and operational assessment. Provide input for increasing capacities for freight rail shipments with particular attention given to intermodal connections. Assess rail operations and identify options for improvements. Conduct due diligence for rail companies including financial assessment and operation evaluation, demand assessment and identification of business growth possibilities. Assess options for development of modern freight and passenger solutions to meet marketplace needs and increase market share of rail transportation. Assess options for the development of modern rail passenger services including high speed trains, intermodal passenger transport solutions (air, rail, road). Assessment of regional passenger rail systems.

High Speed Rail (HSR)

The Infratrans Group provides vast expertise in investment project assessment and development for rail, maritime, road and intermodal transportation. The Infratrans Group members have evaluated, developed and implemented more than 200 infrastructure projects in the United States, Europe, Asia, Central Asia and Latin America covering all facets of the finalization processes.

The staff has extensive experience in working on High Speed Rail issues. The members prepared assessment of World trends in the development and expansion of high speed rail systems. Special evaluation was developed for the newest HSR project in the European Union prepared in Poland. These projects addresses problems related to track construction, train communications systems, safety requirements, and an overview of rolling stock options. These assessments were completed in close cooperation with largest HSR train and equipment manufacturers. In addition, HSR train services were addressed both at the project preparation and implementation phase. The issues related to planning of HSR stops and stations, frequency of trains, the most justified speed assumptions, and competitive environment with air transportation were assessed. The requirements for rail equipment and rail cars were evaluated. The assessment of available and projected demand for HSR services was conducted. The financial feasibility of new HSR systems was evaluated.

The Infratrans Group serves on the Scientific Advisory Board for High Speed Rail system development in Poland (Europe), evaluating proposed infrastructure and HSR service solutions.

The Infratrans Group staff developed a scheme for HSR communications strategy for the newly built project in EU. This involves assessment of stakeholders and audiences, communications tools and verification of strategy effectiveness over the period of four years at the budget of about 2 million U.S.

In 2010 Infratrans Group members have been invited to serve as chairman or speakers at several rail and HSR related international conferences such as U.S. World High Speed Rail conference in Washington, D.C. 2010, the LatinRail 2010 in Miami, Florida and the High Speed Rail Conference in Barcelona 2010.

The Infratrans Group has a solid knowledge, understanding and experience in cooperating with U.S. and international railroads, rail car manufacturers, and passenger rail agencies and relevant state officials.
